Resources

A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.

Your grief is yours alone, but that doesn’t mean you need to be alone in your grieving. Our grief groups (Tables) are organized by peer grievers (Hosts) who have been trained by our staff. We have groups meeting in-person and virtually, including affinity spaces for specific loss experiences and/or identities.

Specifically, our mission is to promote grief education, exploration, and expression in both practical and creative ways. We achieve this mission by providing:

  • Resources related to understanding and coping with grief and loss

  • Guidance on how to help a grieving friend or family member

  • Online courses about grief and supporting someone who’s grieving

  • Resources, education, and training for grief counselors, grief volunteers, and other professionals working in fields related to grief and loss.

  • A podcast about grief

  • A supportive community

The work we do at OptionB.Org is inspired by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant’s bestselling book Option B. Sheryl and Adam co-wrote Option B after Sheryl lost her husband Dave suddenly in 2015. Their goal was to provide a relatable guide for how to navigate loss and hardship, grounded in a body of research and Sheryl’s personal experience. In 2017, Sheryl founded OptionB.Org to provide resources and support for others facing life-changing challenges.

Modern Loss is a place to share the unspeakably taboo, unbelievably hilarious, and unexpectedly beautiful terrain of navigating your life after a death. Beginners welcome.

This project grew out of two friends’ separate experiences with sudden loss, and their struggle to find resources that weren’t too clinical, overtly religious, patronizing or, frankly, cheesy.

The mission of Dougy Center is to provide grief support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults, and their families can share their experiences before and after a death. We provide support and training locally, nationally, and internationally to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children who are grieving.
